The AMA (WA)’s CPD Home awarded initial accreditation by AMC

Friday January 27, 2023

The AMA (WA) is delighted to announce that our wholly owned subsidiary Doctorportal Learning Pty Ltd, trading as CPD Home, has been approved for initial accreditation by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) to deliver a CPD home service to all eligible doctors.

We are in the process of finalising operational details with the AMC prior to our service launching in March 2023.

The changes and new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements to keep up with individual medical registration are set by the Medical Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

The AMA (WA)’s national CPD Home service will be available to all doctors who are required to work with a CPD home service provider under these changes.

All Australian-registered medical specialists (regardless of whether they are already a fellow of a college), international medical graduates, PGY3+ trainees and non-vocationally registered doctors who are required by Ahpra to participate in an accredited CPD program will be able to join CPD Home.

Medical Board of Australia Chair, Dr Anne Tonkin, said the Board was pleased to take the AMC’s advice that after a rigorous accreditation assessment, the new CPD home provided by the AMA (WA) would provide quality CPD to doctors, relevant to their scope of practice.

“We want to make sure doctors get the most value from the time they invest in CPD,” Dr Tonkin said.

“Quality assurance is the whole reason we’re requiring CPD homes to be AMC accredited – so doctors have access to CPD homes with the educational, organisational and technical expertise needed to provide them with a high quality CPD home service,” she said.
