Advocating for WA doctors
Provided members with an expert legal summary on the application of payroll tax to Western Australian medical centres, easing concerns about how Eastern States rulings on widening the tax didn’t apply in WA.
Engaged in ongoing advocacy with the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHPA) due to discrepancies in Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) funding for different specialties, affecting theatre access for specialties that aren’t remunerated well.
Prosecuting reports of wage theft with WA Health.
Led the call for tri-location of Adult, Paediatric and Obstetric & Neonate tertiary/quaternary services, at a metropolitan Perth site, following the shock announcement that a new Women and Babies Hospital would be built at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Successfully lobbied the WA Government’s UTI Pharmacy Prescribing Trial Working Group to mitigate some potential harms associated with pharmacy prescribing, including getting the first-line antibiotic used for the trial changed.
Addressed the needs of doctors' education at MEDCON23 with targeted sessions including cybersecurity, ethical and legal billing, Ahpra, ADHD diagnosing, medico-legal issues, cybersecurity, and the rise of robotic surgery in the treatment of cancer.
Contributed to various significant pieces of public health policy with formal submissions and advocacy.

Supported Private Practice with advice on State and Federal Awards, and access to template contracts.
Negotiated the terms and conditions for conversion to permanency for Senior Doctors through the Industrial Agreement, providing the opportunity for more than 3,000 senior practitioners to convert to permanent employment. This is a great win for medical practitioners employed in the public health system, bringing stability and continuity of employment to the profession.
