Become a Youth Friendly Doctor today!

The Youth Friendly Doctor (YFD) program is designed to equip doctors with the skills and knowledge to remain up to date with the most pertinent issues affecting young people and how to best manage these issues. Youth Friendly Doctors are able to communicate more effectively with young people and break down many of the barriers they face while accessing healthcare services.

The program has been developed in consultation with doctors and other health professionals with specific skills in the area of youth health, providing the most current information on topics including:

  • Mental health: the psychological treatment of young people
  • Young people’s sexual health
  • Social media and the internet: the impact on young people’s wellbeing
  • Mental health: diagnosis and assessment
  • Alcohol and drug use among young people.

The Youth Friendly Doctor program currently attracts category 1 CPD point with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
