New industrial agreement in place for WA Health Clinical Academics

A new WA Health System – Medical Practitioners (Clinical Academics) – AMA Industrial Agreement 2022 has been negotiated between the AMA (WA) and WA Health.

The Agreement covers clinical academics employed by various Health Service Providers, being: North Metropolitan Health Service; South Metropolitan Health Service; East Metropolitan Health Service; Child and Adolescent Health Service; and, PathWest.

The Agreement came into effect on 24 March 2023 and is effective until 2 September 2024, at which time a new industrial agreement will be negotiated.

Key details:

  • Salary increases in line with the core WA Health – Medical Practitioners – AMA Industrial Agreement 2022, backdated to 1 July 2022 ($1,000), and 3 per cent from 1 July 2023.
  • Payment of a $3,000 Cost of Living payment will be paid pro-rata based upon the professional commitment to WA Health as at 30 March 2023. Payment will not be made to any practitioner who is terminated prior to 13 April 2023 or commences after this date, but will be made to practitioners who are on paid or unpaid leave on 13 April 2023.
  • Commitment to reviewing permanency operability for clinical academics through the existing established Permanency & Reform Working Group.

The Cost of Living Payment will be paid on the pay day falling on 13/04/2023.

The salary increase will be paid as follows:

Ascender Pay

  • The new rates will be implemented as of the fortnight commencing 08/05/2023, with the first pay day falling on 25/05/2023 (pay period dates being 08/05/2023 – 21/05/2023).
  • Retrospective backpay will be paid for the period of 01/07/2022 – 7/05/2023 on the pay day falling 25/05/2023.

Lattice

  • The new rates will be implemented as of the fortnight commencing 08/05/2023, with the first pay day falling on 26/05/2023 (pay period dates being 08/05/2023 – 21/05/2023).
  • Retrospective backpay will be paid for the period of 01/07/2022 – 07/05/2023 on the pay day falling 08/06/2023.

 

WA Health have recently confirmed that as the backdating of the 2022 pay increase to 1 July 2022 overlaps with a UWA pay increase effective as of 4 July 2022, there will be a minor underpayment between 1 and 4 July 2022, which HSS is currently rectifying along with the implementation of the remaining back-pay.
