Youth Friendly Doctor

If they are to meet the needs of today’s youth, doctors need contemporary training in adolescent health issues and effective communication strategies.

The Youth Friendly Doctor (YFD) program is designed to provide the medical professional with the skills and knowledge to remain up to date with the most pertinent issues affecting young people and how to best manage these issues.

The program has been developed and is delivered by health professionals with specific skills in the area of youth health, providing the most current information on topics including:

  • Young People, Ethics and the Law
  • Mental Health: The Psychosocial Treatment of Young People
  • Young People’s Sexual Health
  • Social Media and the Internet: The Impact on Young People’s Wellbeing
  • Mental Health: Diagnosis and Assessment
  • Alcohol and Drug Use Among Young People

For further information, please download the 2019 YFD flyer and registration form.

Youth Friendly Doctors are able to communicate more effectively with young people and break down many of the barriers young people face in health care.
