AICD Company Directors Course™

The AMA (WA) is partnering with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) to deliver the esteemed Company Directors Course™ for up to 25 healthcare professionals.

The AICD’s Company Directors Course™ is a highly regarded program aimed at new and experienced company directors, business owners and senior executives reporting to boards. It provides participants with the confidence and knowledge to tackle the challenges of directorship both in the short term and as their careers progress.

Upon successful completion, you will:

  • Qualify for the Company Directors Course™ Award and may be eligible to earn the GAICD post-nominal upon successful completion of the assessment (AICD members only).
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the latest governance trends and challenges.
  • Develop practical skills to drive organisational success through sound decision-making, financial analysis, risk management and culture oversight.
  • Enhance your financial literacy and ability to evaluate an organisation’s financial health.
  • Understand the impact of boardroom dynamics on board effectiveness and learn how to influence positive change.
  • Connect with a diverse network of peers and a teaching faculty of experienced directors to drive your professional growth through their expertise and guidance.

The Company Directors Course™ is delivered in-house at AMA (WA) by AICD’s Board Advance facilitators, guiding participants through five essential content themes.

GOVERNANCE AND THE PRACTICE OF DIRECTORSHIP

Understand the duties and practices of directorship, and a board’s functions and responsibilities.

THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT

Analyse the responsibilities and functions of directors and officers and consider the impacts of a changing legal environment on board decision-making.

RISK AND STRATEGY

Examine the board’s role in developing a culture appropriate for the risk tolerance of the organisation and explore the board’s roles in developing and executing strategy.

FINANCIAL LITERACY AND PERFORMANCE

Focus on financial literacy for directors and evaluate the board’s explicit role in driving organisational performance.

ACHIEVING BOARD EFFECTIVENESS

Investigate effective decision-making, board dynamics, the impact of individual and collective performance and how a constructive board culture can create significant value for an organisation.
