Media release: Psychiatrist Dr Kyle Hoath elected as President of the AMA (WA) for two-year term

Dr Kyle Hoath became the new President of the AMA (WA) at last night’s annual general meeting, succeeding Dr Michael Page. Dr Hoath has been elected for a two-year term.
Dr Natalie Ferrington, a doctor in training, and Dr Andrew P’ng, a GP, were elected as Vice Presidents for two-year terms.
Dr Hoath (38) is a psychiatrist and the Chief Medical Officer at Oqea, a wellbeing medical technology company.
He has been the Vice President of the AMA (WA) for the last 12 months, on the AMA (WA) board for the last two years, and a council member since 2020. With leadership experience across several healthcare and sports organisations, Dr Hoath also chairs the Board of Basketball WA and the Fremantle Language Development Centre.
The new AMA (WA) president is committed to driving positive change in mental health, medical innovation, and driving value for AMA (WA) members.
“I am truly honoured to be taking on the role,” Dr Hoath said.
“As someone who is deeply committed to advocating for the health and wellbeing of our medical community, I look forward to working alongside the AMA (WA) team and fellow councillors.
“Together, we will address key priorities such as improving the mental health of our medical workforce, expanding access to quality healthcare, and strengthening the voice of the AMA (WA) in policy discussions.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Michael for his exceptional leadership during his term, and for his continued support as we move forward.”
Dr Hoath graduated from the University of WA in 2010 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, as well as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame.
He served on the AMA (WA) Doctors in Training committee from 2011-2017.
He graduated from the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors (2024) and has a Graduate Certificate in Management from the Australian Institute of Management (2021).
