ABOUT MEDBALL
MEDBALL is an annual charity event dedicated to raising vital funds for the AMA (WA) Foundation. Established in 1996 as a not-for-profit arm, the AMA (WA) Foundation serves as a valuable platform to support vulnerable groups within the community.
The Foundation’s first initiative, Dr YES (Youth Education Sessions), was introduced to provide essential health education to young people. This was followed by the Youth Friendly Doctor training program in 2001 and the WA Youth Services Directory in 2008, further expanding the Foundation’s reach and impact.
In 2022, the Foundation launched its latest program, Doctors’ Health Advisory Service Western Australia (DHASWA). This independent not-for-profit association aims to improve the health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students in Western Australia.
Through these programs, the AMA (WA) Foundation continues to actively contribute to a healthier WA.

The Junior Doctor of the Year Award is given to a person who has made a significant and outstanding contribution to the medical profession and the community in areas such as teaching and education, leadership and advocacy, doctors’ wellbeing and community service.

The DHASWA Doctors' Health Champion of the Year (Jonathan Morling Legacy Award) is presented to a person who has done the most to champion the cause of doctors' and medical student health in Western Australia.
