Wednesday January 7, 2026

Several AMA (WA) members have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to general practice at the RACGP WA Faculty’s annual awards in December 2025, celebrating excellence across leadership, education, rural advocacy and patient care.

Dr Rajeshwary (Raji) Krishnan (pictured second on the left with RACGP WA Chair Dr Ramya Raman) was named General Practitioner of the Year, recognised for her comprehensive care and service to vulnerable communities in Gosnells. Her work spans palliative care, Street Doctor mobile clinics, and research into rheumatic heart disease and hepatitis.

Dr Kylie Sterry (pictured second in the middle with Dr Colleen Bradford), based in Kalgoorlie, received the Sam Bada Medical Educator Award for her exceptional dedication to mentoring and education, fostering innovation, critical thinking and a culture of excellence in rural general practice.

Dr Richard Taylor (pictured on the right with Dr Raman), a Geraldton GP, was honoured with the WA Faculty Legend Award, recognising his strong advocacy for rural members, leadership within faculty activities and his trusted voice in the community.

The awards evening also celebrated the College’s highest honour, the Rose-Hunt Award, presented at GP25 to WA GP Adjunct Associate Professor Frank R Jones for 45 years of service to general practice, including four decades at Murray Medical Centre in Mandurah and extensive leadership roles within the RACGP.

Other award recipients included Carnarvon Medical Centre, named General Practice of the Year; Dr Jane Potter, awarded Supervisor of the Year; Dr Alexander Ashenden, recognised as General Practitioner in Training of the Year; and Dr Carrie Davis, recipient of the Jack Christodulou Examiner Award.

Dr Raman, who is also a valued AMA (WA) member, said the awards highlighted the breadth of dedication across the profession, recognising GPs, educators, registrars and practices who embody service, compassion and excellence in general practice across Western Australia.
