Overview

NRT LogoFirst Aid is one of the most important skills a person can gain. When people are trained in First Aid they gain confidence and awareness of the safety aspects which help to prevent accidents and reduce pain and suffering for casualties. AMA Training Services is a subscriber to the Australian Resuscitation Council and AMA First Aid has been developed according to Council guidelines. AMA First Aid training is available during the week. Training is classroom based either at the AMA Training Centre or on site where numbers permit.

Course Content

  • Introduction to First Aid
  • Assessing the situation
  • Basic anatomy and physiology
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Bleeding & shock
  • Burns, bites & stings
  • Poisons
  • Emergency situations
  • Head, neck & spinal injuries
  • Sprains, strains, dislocations and fractures
  • Eye injuries
  • Defibrillator awareness and demonstration

Assessment

Students must complete a questionairre and a practical scenario displaying the AMA First Aid skills they have learnt in a simulated situation.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course students will be awarded an AMA First Aid certificate. (valid for 3 years from date of issue). The learning outcomes achieved also provide participants with Unit of Competency for:
