Lord Mayor urged to make Northbridge smoke free

AMA (WA) is urging Perth's new Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi to introduce a smoking ban in all Northbridge alfresco dining areas.

It's time for the City of Perth to follow the lead of Fremantle and put the health and well being of the community first. Eating outdoors should be both an enjoyable and risk-free pastime. Unfortunately, in Northbridge it has become a health hazard.

Meanwhile, the AMA and the Australian Council on Smoking and Health (ACOSH) are writing to Australia's major political parties seeking a commitment to a range of tobacco control initiatives.
