Associate Professor David Mountain has been elected President of the Australian Medical Association (WA).
A/Prof Mountain, an emergency physician at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, has been AMA (WA) Vice President for the last two years, is a Fellow of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine and is Associate Professor with the University of WA.
He was elected unopposed at the association's Annual General Meeting on June 30 and replaces Prof Gary Geelhoed who served as President from August 2008.
The Annual General Meeting of the AMA (WA) also elected Dr Steve Wilson and Dr Ian Jenkins as Vice Presidents.
Dr Wilson is a Bassendean GP and chair of the AMA (WA) Council of General Practice.
Dr Jenkins is head of the Intensive Care Unit at Fremantle Hospital.
