MSCWA is the peak representative body for medical students in WA, acting as the spearhead for state based advocacy for all 3 WA medical student societies (MedSocs); the Curtin Association of Medical Students (CAMS), the Western Australian Medical Students’ Society (WAMSS), and the Medical Students Association of Notre Dame (MSAND). Collectively, MSCWA represents over 1,700 medical students in the state.
MSCWA was established in 2020/21, and during this tumultuous pandemic period, MSCWA advocated for medical student placements in hospitals and thus became a key stakeholder in medical student issues around the state.
MSCWA is composed of a Chair, Deputy Chair, the 3 presidents of the WA MedSocs, and the 3 Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) representatives of each MedSoc.
