Rural and Remote Health Workforce Innovation and Reform Strategy

The RRHWIR Strategy aims to provide national guidance on future needs, reforms and initiatives to improve the health workforce required to deliver services to those in regional, rural and remote communities. The Strategy is linked to Health Workforce Australia’s National Health Workforce Innovation and Reform Strategic Framework for Action and the National Training Plan. Commonwealth funding and administration of Mental Health Services

UGPA has significant concerns regarding the proposed cuts to the Better Access program. These changes will have a major impact on patient access, quality of service, and the overall mental health workforce.

Medicare Locals

The first 19 Medicare Locals are now in their early stages of development.  The AMA opposes Medicare Locals in their current form because there has not been enough consultation with the medical profession over their structures and the types of services they will provide.
