The AMA has fought for the continued right of all Australians to choose their own family GP and has advocated to ensure that the public and media are aware of the real costs of primary care and the inadequacy of current MBS funding.

Recently the AMA has revised its position statement on Out of Hours Primary Medical Care. The statement makes recommendation as to essential criteria for any model of out of hours primary care.
